Position description:

This position is designed to offer a trainee or entry level opportunity in the Contract Monitoring Division (CMD). The position provides an introduction to the career of a Contract Compliance Officer while allowing incumbents to learn about the City’s Chapter 14B Local Business Enterprise Ordinance. Under general supervision, the CMD Contract Compliance Intern will provide support to Contract Compliance Officers in implementing the San Francisco Administrative Code Chapter 14B Local Business Enterprise (LBE) and Non-Discrimination in Contracting Ordinance. Along with a Contract Compliance Officer, the Intern will assist with administering effective and timely compliance to Chapter 14B and perform related duties as required.

The Contract Monitoring Division (CMD) implements and enforces the Chapter 14B Local Business Enterprise Ordinance, which was adopted by the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors to protect the public interest in equality throughout the City & County of San Francisco’s governmental contracting process. In order to provide the highest level of public service, the CMD is committed to providing expert assistance to businesses and City departments to ensure this mandate is accomplished fairly, effectively, and efficiently.

Minimum requirements:

Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in industrial relations, the social sciences or related field.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Good public relations skills;

  • Good written and verbal communications;

  • Interest or increased knowledge of local economic development and social equity;

  • Interest or increased knowledge in the procurement and bidding procedure of public sector contracts;

  • Interest or increased knowledge in non-discrimination objectives in contracting;

  • Skills and/or interest in using Microsoft Excel
